Regain Control with Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE)

If you’ve been struggling with the symptoms of an enlarged prostate (BPH), Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE) offers a minimally invasive solution that allows you to get back to living your life—without the need for major surgery.

Why Choose PAE?

  • Minimally Invasive: Unlike traditional surgery, PAE is performed through a small puncture in the skin, reducing recovery time and risks.
  • Faster Recovery: Most patients return to their normal activities within a few days, without the need for a lengthy hospital stay.
  • Fewer Side Effects: PAE targets the blood supply to the prostate, shrinking it without affecting surrounding tissues—resulting in fewer complications such as sexual dysfunction or incontinence.
  • Effective Relief: PAE offers long-lasting relief from symptoms like frequent urination, difficulty emptying the bladder, and night-time bathroom trips.
  • No General Anesthesia: This procedure is performed under local anesthesia, which reduces risk and allows for a more comfortable experience.

Dr. Zeni is a Fellow in the Society of Interventional Radiology and an IR/DR certified doctor. His focus has always been providing excellent care to his patients in an ethical and compassionate manner.

Dr. Zeni served as the Director of IR for more than 15 years at Baptist Memorial Health Care Memphis.  He was the founder of the Memphis Interventional Radiology Clinic in 2004.  This clinic was the first of its kind at Baptist Memorial hospital joining interventional services with outpatient clinical care.

Dr. Zeni was named the top Memphis Interventional Radiologist by his peers in a survey conducted by Memphis Magazine for the last 5 years. He has extensive experience in treating patients with a variety of vascular diseases and cancer. Dr. Zeni has pioneered renal cryoablation for treatment of adenocarcinoma and has treated a multitude of different tumors using cryoablation along with embolization techniques. He was the first physician in the greater Memphis area to perform prostate artery embolization.  He was the first physician in Memphis to perform catheter base thrombectomy for the treatment of pulmonary embolism and this work resulted in a pioneering peer-reviewed article for the society.  Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Zeni has trained radiology residents and IR medical fellows for which he received several teaching awards. He has published research papers with the residents and has been a contributing author for a textbook on IR procedures.
